Bonfire at The Nexus Today welcomes and honors the voices of all people including People of Color, LGBTQIA2S+ people, disabled people immigrants, people of faith, sex workers, those experiencing homelessness or food insecurity, currently and formerly incarcerated people, persons with low, no or fixed incomes, etc.
Please act in accordance with the following community guidlines
1. Lift and Make Heard Marginalized Voices
We are dedicated to providing a positive, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone. Keep posts and comments on-topic and relevant to advancing an anti-racist, intersectional, feminist and progressive agenda.
2. Leave Abusive Behaviors at the Door
No racism, ableism (including mental health shaming and stigmatization), sexism, casteism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, anti-LGBTQIA2S+ bigotry (including targeted misgendering, targeted deadnaming, and advocacy of conversion therapy) , microaggressions, gaslighting, sea-lioning, trolling, bullying, calling group members names, personal attack or harassment are allowed.
3. Support Respectful Disagreement/Debate
Diversity of honest perspectives is a strength. Diversity reflects not only differences in opinion, but also differences in lived experience and perspective. The sharing of these differences is invaluable to the work of a group like ours.
4. Respect Members’ Privacy
With the exception of public posts, sharing or quoting from local-only, followers-only, pr otherwise protected posts posts, or screenshots of conversations, without documented permission of the post author(s) is prohibited. Sharing of personally identifiable information of any individual inside or outside the instance is not allowed.
5. Avoid Prohibited Posts
We will delete, or close comments on, inflammatory content and images, outrage posts, fake or questionable ‘news’ links, ads, posts promoting the sale or purchase of commodities, and duplicate posts.
6. Be Aware of Survivors
Do not include videos and images showing violence or abuse (mental, emotional, verbal, sexual) in a main post -- they can be triggering or traumatizing to group members. If you include them in the comments, put a content warning in the main post.
Note: Bonfire at The Nexus Today is adminned and moderated by a small, all-volunteer team. If posts or comments need attention from the moderators, report it by using Bonfire's "Report" functionality, available from the three-dot menu at the bottom of each post. Action will be taken at the discretion of the moderator team.
